Stringer Cladding

Stringers on a staircase are the structural supports that run along each side (and sometimes down the middle) of the stairs, holding the treads (the horizontal steps) and risers (the vertical parts) in place. They act like the backbone of the staircase, providing strength and stability while also defining its overall shape.

The cladding can be used to cover both the inner and outer side of the staircase.

How to Install Stringer Cladding

Simple to Install, Even for DIY

✅ Measure and cut to size

✅ Attach to the existing stringers with a wood adhesive

✅ Finish off with angle moulding and stringer caps

✅ 6mm MDF construction is easy to work with

✅ Only basic tools are needed

Complete Your Staircase Makeover

You don’t need to renovate every part of your staircase to get a great result, but it’s worth thinking ahead about the finish you want to achieve. Since each component needs to be measured and cut before fitting, the order of installation makes a difference. We recommend following the below sequence for the smoothest process and best outcome.

1. Newel Post Replacement or Newel Post Cladding

It is recommended to start with the newel post, as the size of the post will affect all the other components.

2. Stringer Cladding

Stringers should be cut and installed second, as those will affect the length to which steps cladding (optional) needs to be cut.

These cover both the inner and outer side of the staircase.

3. Balustrade

We offer a selection of different balustrades, including following styles:

Glass, Metal Spindle, Metal Panel, 41mm Spindles allowing full customisation. We also have made some presets that you may want to explore.

4. Steps Cladding

Finally, the steps can be done. Once all the other components are in place, installing our oak treads should be simple and ensures that all the components fit seamlessly and do not leave any gaps when done properly.
