What are the floor to ceiling spindles?

Oak floor-to-ceiling spindles are vertical timber slats (usually solid oak) fitted from the floor up to the ceiling to create a clean, modern “slatted” look while still letting light through. They’re often used on the side of a staircase as an alternative to a traditional balustrade, giving a more open, architectural feel. You can also use them as a room divider to subtly zone spaces without fully closing them off. Applied to a wall, they create a striking feature wall with warmth, texture, and depth.

✅ Sustainable finger joint construction reduces warping

Room Divider

A room divider made from oak floor-to-ceiling spindles is basically a “see-through” partition: it separates areas without blocking daylight or making the space feel boxed in. Because the slats have gaps, you get privacy and definition (you can’t see straight through as easily), but you still keep flow, sightlines, and ventilation.

Balustrade

A floor-to-ceiling balustrade is a full-height guarding system that runs from the floor up to the ceiling, creating a continuous safety barrier rather than stopping at handrail height. You’ll often see it on stair voids, landings, mezzanines, or gallery edges where you want maximum protection (and sometimes a more “architectural wall” look) while still keeping things visually open. Compared with a normal balustrade, it can feel more solid and can help prevent climbing or falling, and it can also double as a strong design feature.

Feature Wall

Can also be used as a feature wall by fixing the oak spindles/slats vertically (or sometimes horizontally) onto an existing wall to add warmth, texture, and depth. The gaps create shadow lines that change through the day, giving a clean, modern look that still feels natural and high-end.

It’s a great wrap-up option because it ties in with the other uses: you can match the same spindle style used as a room divider or floor-to-ceiling balustrade, so the whole space feels consistent and intentional rather than mixed-and-matched.
